Skin Tag Removal

Removing skin tags

If a skin tag is upsetting you, consider making an appointment with a private clinic to have it removed.  Skin tags can easily be frozen off.  Liquid nitrogen application will feel like a strong biting pinch for about 3 seconds. The pain quickly fades and is much better within 15 minutes. As the skin thaws out, the chilled nerves will recover function at different rates. Depending on the size of the tag, if we don’t think this approach is possible we will advise you appropriately.

If you wish to have your skin tags removed, your first step should be to arrange a consultation with us at The Good Skin Company, as the size and location of the tag will help determine the best removal method.

Treatment is quick and easy, with a wide range of removal options available; Cryotherapy in which the offending tag is frozen off using liquid nitrogen is a very popular option.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Skin tags and can be removed by a quick treatment called cryotherapy. The Cryopen is the most effective way of avoiding blisters as it only treats the affected area and not healthy tissue.

  • Clinic based treatments are conducted under local anaesthetic, and so the treatment should be painless. Laser treatment may cause very slight discomfort, but is usually well tolerated.

  • After the treatment you may have an itchy or stinging sensation. This is normal and is caused by histamines being released around the treated area. The sensation will disappear within 10-20 min. if a blister forms, do not be concerned. The swelling/blister will go down. The skin tag should slowly darken in colour and fall off completely. If some of the skin in the surrounding area is reddened or feels particularly sensitive it should lessen over the next few days. Other than that, complications are rare and you can go home as soon as your anaesthetic wears off.
