At The Good Skin Company we use a CoolGlide laser as opposed to intense pulse light (IPL) another form of hair removal. IPL uses less powerful and diffused wavelengths which can mean more treatments are required for this hair removal procedure.

A pulse of light is delivered from the laser to the area of unwanted hair; this heat is directed at the base of the hair follicle, subsequently inhibiting the hairs ability to grow. The hair is disabled in the active growth phase at the time of the treatment.

Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair. Most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not re-growing. Most areas require a minimum of 3-6 treatments; however, this will depend on multiple factors such as hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle.

As the name implies, the CoolGlide hand piece cools and soothes as it is guided across your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No anaesthetic is required during this treatment.

Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances blistering may occur.
